Story of how it came to be
“Growing up with Salvadoran parents they would recall their childhood. Although they were thankful for the little things, my heart ached to hear how they didn’t have much food, clothes, toys, and candy. Items I always took for granted that they heavily wished for. Their worries weren’t about playing, it was about surviving. Their childhood was taken far too early. My dad received his first M&M's at the age of 15 and to this day, cries whenever he gets gifted that specific candy. My parents provided candy on every trip they made yearly since 2004 to the children down in El Salvador so that they could have what they didn’t get to experience. From a young age, I understood how little actions create a bigger effect. Although I was in the frontline giving, I never understood how bad the circumstances were until I saw the need firsthand at an older age. In 2021 we did our first established trip taking soccer balls, barbies, trucks, socks, masks, hand sanitizers, and many more items. I wanted to give children hope that they are seen, heard, and even have someone rooting for them. Encouraging them to continue dreaming about their future. Eso es como ‘Dando Esperanza en El Salvador' fue creado.”

Historia de cómo surgió
‘Al crecer con padres salvadoreños ellos siempre recordaban y hablaban de su infancia. Aunque estaban agradecidos por las pequeñas cosas, mi corazón dolía al escuchar cómo no tenían mucha comida, ropa, juguetes y dulces. Artículos que siempre di por sentado que ellos deseaban mucho. Sus preocupaciones no eran sobre jugar, era de como sobrevivir. Su infancia fue tomada demasiado temprano. Mi padre recibió sus primeros M&M a la edad de 15 años y hasta el día de hoy, llora cada vez que le regalan ese dulce específico. Mis padres regalan dulces en cada viaje que hicieron anualmente desde 2004 a los niños en El Salvador para que ellos pudieran tener lo que no pudieron experimentar. Desde una edad temprana, entendí cómo las pequeñas acciones crean un efecto más grande. Aunque estaba en primera línea dando, nunca entendí lo malas que eran las circunstancias hasta que vi la necesidad de primera mano a una edad mayor. En 2021 hicimos nuestro primer viaje establecido tomando balones de fútbol, barbies, camiones, calcetines, máscaras, desinfectantes de manos, y mucho más. Quería darles a los niños la esperanza que alguien lo ve, los escucha e incluso que tienen a alguien que les apoye. Animándoles a seguir soñando con su futuro. Eso es como ‘Dando Esperanza en El Salvador' fue creado.’
